THE NEW Saints kicked off their season in the Champions League – but Josh Peters insists it would be wrong to suggest Forfar don’t have a prayer this afternoon.
TNS exited Europe at the second qualifying round but held Apoel Nicosia to a goalless draw before crashing out with a 3-0 defeat away in Cyprus.
Since then the Welsh champions have racked up 10 straight wins in the league and are well on their way to a sixth straight title triumph.
Peters confesses that, with former Motherwell defender Steven Saunders and ex-Hamilton Accies midfielder Jon Routledge in their ranks, the Shropshire-based side will be formidable opponents for Forfar in this afternoon’s IRN-BRU Cup tie.
But the 20-year-old top scorer – who has netted doubles in the last two rounds of the tournament – reckons the Loons can cause an upset by treating the match as their own continental adventure.
The youngster, who spent the latter half of last season with Hibs’ development squad, told Capital City Press: “It will be a great experience, a bit like a European tie.
“They played in the Champions League qualifiers and are winning every week in their league, so we know they’ll be a good team.

“We don’t know too much about them yet but we’re going to do some video analysis before the game and that will give us a better idea of what we’re going to come up against.
“We know they’ll be a good standard and it will be good to gauge where we’re at against a team like that, who have picked up a lot of experience themselves in Europe.
“It’s going to be a bit different and a good experience. I know some people are not too happy about the other teams being in the competition but I’m all for it and I’m looking forward to it.
“They’ll definitely be favourites but we’ll go out there with a game-plan and see if we can get through to the next round.
“You don’t know what could happen. We’ll play to our strengths and hopefully things will go our way.”
