Richard Osman starts mistranslated signs trend

POINTLESS presenter Richard Osman has started a Twitter trend after posting an image of a hilariously mistranslated Chinese sign, snapped by his daughter.

Osman tweeted a picture of the sign, from a Shanghai musuem, which states: “Please keep quiet and take care of your children. No romping in a potato.”

He captioned the image: “My daughter is in China and sends me photos of mis-translations. This is my new favourite.”

The post inspired Twitter users to post their favourite mistranslations from their own travels abroad.

Badly translated signs from non-English speaking countries have graced the internet before, but this latest trend has thrown up some never-before-seen crackers.
