RANGERS fans are delighted their team is back in the FIFA video game – but furious the virtual players are shown doing a Celtic-style huddle.
After disappearing from the game’s version of the SPFL for four years, the club is back in the top flight for FIFA 17.
But a picture has emerged from the game showing the Rangers players in a pre-match huddle, something synonymous with arch-rivals Celtic.
The screenshot from the game was uploaded on Twitter yesterday evening (Thurs) with the caption: “FIFA 17 – Four long years I’ve waited to play as the mighty Glasgow Rangers 1872 in FIFA then they do this?!”
The picture shows the light blues’ team huddled round on the pitch just as Celtic do when captain, Scott Brown, gives a rousing speech to the other players.
The tweet has sparked debate between rival sets of supporters and has already gained over 2,000 retweets and likes.
One user, @davidsmith_72 simply said: “Not buying it.”
A Celtic supporter, @johnduddy_, suggested that the Rangers fan could buy rival game, Pro Evolution Soccer and replied: “Hahaha pes it is for you.”
@BarryThomson_ said: “It’s a f****** outrage.”
Whilst @KevinMiller1976 made light of Rangers recent financial troubles and commented:
“Is there a liquidation league? Gretna, Third Lanark & Rangers.”
Rangers missed out on a place in last year’s FIFA as they were playing in the Scottish Championship, a league not featured by the game but had been in prior versions.
The huddle has been used as part of Celtic’s pre-match ritual since being introduced in 1995 and is even used as the title of various fansites for the club.
