LEAGUE 2 promotion hopefuls Clyde have been dealt a hammer-blow after Dylan Easton was ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old was taken from the field on a stretcher after suffering a knee injury in the closing stages of Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Arbroath.
Easton’s worst fears were confirmed when scans showed he has suffered ruptured cruciate knee ligaments and will require surgery before undertaking a gruelling rehabilitation programme.
Clyde boss Barry Ferguson told Clyde’s official website: “I’m devastated by this news, first and foremost for Dylan himself.
“He’s absolutely gutted at the moment, but we are all there to support him and I will make sure that he gets through it.
The former St Johnstone youngster had enjoyed a sensational start to the campaign for Ferguson’s side, tormenting teams on the flank and chipping in with two goals in nine appearances.
He scored a remarkable goal of the season contender in Clyde’s 2-1 win over Montrose on the opening day of the League 2 season.
Easton tweeted last night: “Absolutely devastated.. Just got the news I didn’t want, ruptured my cruciate and will be needing operation, don’t know what to do! GUTTED.”
