Ayr United manager Ian McCall admits he is interested in signing frozen-out Dundee midfielder Gary Harkins.
The 31-year-old has been told by Dark Blues manager Paul Hartley that he has no future at Dens Park, despite having a year to run on his current deal.
McCall worked with the experienced playmaker during their time at Patrick Thistle and is keen to recruit the former Kilmarnock player as Ayr attempt to survive in their first season back in the Championship.
Harkins is in his third spell with Dundee but has not been involved in any of Hartley’s match-day squads this term.
McCall said: “We’ve been linked with all sorts of players, it’s as if we’re a big club. He’d be a good player for us and we’ll see what happens.”
