Scotland will play their third World Cup qualifying match against Slovakia at the revamped £24 million Anton Malatinsky City Arena in Trnava.

The Scottish FA confirmed yesterday that Gordon Strachan’s side will lock horns with Slovakia on October 11 at the 19,200 capacity stadium.

The ground, which is the home of Spartak Trnava, reopened in 2015 following a two-year reconstruction.

Anton Malatinsky City ArenaSlovakia, who were knocked out at the last-16 stage at Euro 2016 following a 3-0 defeat to Germany, will host England in Trnava in their opening Group F match.

Scotland face a trip to Malta and a visit of Lithuania before the clash against Jan Kozak’s side.

Slovakia have only won one, a 3-2 victory over Switzerland last November, of their last eight matches at the Anton Malatinsky City Arena, a barren run dating back to 2004.
