Norwich City manager Alex Neil admits he is confident of making Scotland internationalist Ross McCormack a club record £12 million signing before the weekend.
Neil has earmarked the Fulham marksman as a player that can spearhead his side’s attack as the Canaries look to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
McCormack, who scored 23 goals last term, returned to training with Fulham yesterday following injury but fellow Scot Neil hopes to have the 29-year-old on board before Saturday’s opening English Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers.
Neil, speaking to the pinkun.com, said: “I am very hopeful we will get not only that one but one or two in, hopefully before the Blackburn game; but if not we are still doing our very best to get people in as quickly as possible.
“I think we are at a stage where we are not getting rejected out of hand so there is movement on both sides but it is how much we are prepared to give and how much they are.
“We are already spending considerable money to get it done and I don’t think there is any need to spend any more.
“I would like to get all our business in before Blackburn. We should have at least one by the end of the week.”
