Battling thugs turn city street in deserted warzone

AN AMAZING video has captured the moment gangs of fighting yobs turn a quiet city street into a warzone.

The leafy road is completely devoid of traffic and passers-by as the the thugs – one armed with a baseball bat – punch and kick each other to the ground.

The footage emerged on social media yesterday evening (Thurs) of the mass brawl, which is thought to have taken place on Wellshot Road, in the Tollcross area of Glasgow.

The battle appears to be triggered when one youngster gets punched, which then sparks a number of other fights in close proximity, with one man sprinting along the road to chase people with a baseball bat.

One man could be seen running down the road with a baseball bat

The clip is filmed in broad daylight just three miles from the city centre and yet not a single vehicle or pedestrian is glimpsed as the gangs take over the street.

The clip, which is over a minute long, starts with two tracksuited youngsters squaring off against each other.

One of them says, ‘look at the state of you’ before lunging towards the other and viciously punching him in the face.

The blow sparks a wild melee, as onlookers rush to over, sparking other new fights.

Another male, dressed in black, shouts, ‘right ya f****** bam, let’s do this then ya dafties’ as he sprints after rival gang members whilst swinging a wooden baseball bat.

The camera records other ongoing battles between youths who punch, grab and kick each other on the empty road and in a courtyard nearby.

A voice can be heard saying, ‘oh my god’ as a youngster runs up to someone on the ground and brutally kicks them in the head.

The video ends with around ten youngsters spread out across the road as the walk in the direction of their rival gang. One can be heard shouting, ‘What yous running for?’.

Facebook users were shocked by the incident.

Irene Van Schelt commented: “Never understood all that violence, it’s pointless.”

Maggie Doherty wrote: “Like a ‘running battle’ from the 70’s lol! Thought Glasgow had moved on!”

Stephen Duncan said: “Here we have a group of endangered species called ‘Neds’.

And Kevin Malcolm called the footage an “embarrassment to Scotland”.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “On the information provided, I have no reports of a disturbance on Wellshot Road, Glasgow reported to police yesterday.

“If you find out more on when it happened and who reported it to police we can check further on more specific information.”
