Women’s Aid worker faces striking off for “slut” text to female

A WOMEN’S Aid worker could be struck off after allegedly calling a female a “slut”, “bad mother” and leaving an abusive voicemail about her stillborn child.

Lesley Clunas has been called to appear in front of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) in Dundee on August 2.

She faces numerous allegations relating to her time as a support worker with Fife Women’s Aid in Dunfermline between May and June 2014.

The group provides counselling and support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

Ms Clunas is accused of using her work mobile to “excessively contact” a woman at least 78 times over a one month period.

The hearing could see her struck from the register

In a 24 hour period on June 14 she is accused of sending the woman 32 text messages, calling her a “slut” in at least one.

An abusive message allegedly sent by Ms Clunas stated: “You’re a bad mother making him go to court, it’s all your fault. You totally exaggerated what happened. Tell the truth to the procurator fiscal – don’t make BB a witness. You can stop all this now”

She also is alleged to have said: “It’s not as if he gave you a doing. Your alleged assault never happened.”

It is also claimed that she threatened the woman, saying: “You better make sure BB’s statement isn’t full of lies ‘cos I know exactly everything that happened that night and you know I know that. If it doesn’t I’m coming for you and BB I swear.”

“You’re psychotic – you meet every trait on the scale. You’re a lying, manipulative, violent bully who hits pensioners and is violent towards men”.

Another alleged message stated: “I heard about your stillborn, oh and I want to know where’s the death certificate. I want to know the sex of that child…you have an hour to phone back.”

The remaining charges relate to the huge number of phone calls, text messages and voicemails she apparently left for the woman over the period between May 13 and June 15 2014.

They do not provide any further detail of what was contained in these messages.

Fife Women’s Aid said they were “not prepared to comment” on the hearing.
