Hearts defender Callum Paterson will walk a Europa League suspension tightrope in tonight’s visit of Birkirkara
The Scotland internationalist is just one booking away from missing a potential third qualifying round tie with Russian side after collecting two yellow cards in the competition.
The right-back was cautioned in the victory over Estonian side Infonet at Tynecastle and also had his name taken down in last Thursday’s goal-less draw in Malta.
Hearts will face Krasnodar in the next round if they see off Birkirkara but a third booking for Paterson would rule the 21-year-old out of next Thursday’s first leg in Gorgie.
Paterson’s tea-mates Conor Sammon, Perry Kitchen and Arnaud Djoum have all received one caution.
