Lee Casciaro hopes Lincoln’s band of brothers can set up dream Celtic Champions League tie

Lee Casciaro insists Lincoln Red Imps’ close-kinit band of brothers can bounce back to set up a dream Celtic date.

The Gibraltar international striker is the eldest of three siblings in the Red Imps side, with Ryan and Kyle also in the squad.

The family connections do not end there, however, as captain Ryan Chipolina is the cousin of defender of Joseph Chipolina.

lincolnredimpsCasciaro is hoping that dressing room bond can help the Gibraltan champions overturn their Champions League first leg defeat to Flora.

With Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic awaiting the winners in the second qualifying round, Lincoln are trailing the Estonian side 2-1 at the halfway point ahead of tonight’s return clash in the British Overseas Territory.

Casciaro said: “Myself and my brothers Ryan, who who plays centre half, and Kyle, who plays as a left winger, all play for Lincoln. Then there is also the Chipolina cousins.

“It’s obviously a small town and there are a lot of connections, everyone is either family or your very close.

“We have been playing together for most of our lives, from the ages of 11 there are probably about six guys that have always played together and that’s always an advantage if you know what to expect or know how they’re going to play.

“It’s better for us if you have a good understanding with your colleagues and even the guys that have been signed have been here for the last three or four years. It’s like a big family.

“As brothers we talk a lot and we try to exceed our expectations even more. We also try to help each other out.”

Casciaro, who scored his country’s historic first ever competitive goal in March’s 6-1 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Scotland at Hampden added: “It was quite an even game over there, we had a number of chances to score and I had a goal disallowed.

“At least Joseph (Chipolina) scored and playing at home we’ll also have a full capacity.
“Last year we had 2,000 fans at a game in the Champions League.”
