Former Scotland under-19 internationalist Mark Beck could be set for a move to Dunfermline – as Pars youngster PJ Crossan closes in on a switch to Celtic.
Beck, 22, is available on a free transfer after he was released by English League Two outfit Yeovil Town, where he struggled to make an impact, ultimately spending the final months of the season on loan at Wrexham.
He is currently on trial with the Fifers and has impressed manager Allan Johnston, netting an equaliser with a powerful header on Wednesday evening as Dunfermline’s pre-season continued with a 1-1 draw against Alloa.
Johnston has made no secret of his desire to bolster the Pars’ attacking options ahead of their return to the Championship, with uncertainty regarding the future of last season’s top scorer, Faissal El Bakhtaoui.
The French-Moroccan front-man is out of contract and keen to weigh up other opportunities and, while their offer to the player remains on the table, Dunfermline are actively seeking alternative options. Youngster Crossan, meanwhile, is another heading for the exit door.
The 17-year-old caught the eye of Celtic following a string of sensational displays at under-20 level, culminating in him making two appearances for the Dunfermline senior side last term.
He is out of contract but the Pars are due a development fee after bringing Crossan through the ranks at East End Park. After days of negotiations, that hurdle has now been overcome.
The parties have agreed a six figure fee for the player, with his switch to Glasgow to join Brendan Rodgers’ new look Celts now appearing imminent.
