Scottish Highlands
The Scottish Highlands offer some of the most amazing views for a road trip. Peak District

Known as the ‘Roof of England’, the A686 is a route which passes from Penrith in Cumbria to Haydon Bridge in Northumberland and offers a range of breath-taking views along the way. A popular road for motorcyclists, you’ll be glad to hear that it’s often straightforward for new drivers, but be prepared to keep your eyes out for some sharp bends. Crossing over the Pennines, a drive along this pass will reward you with magnificent scenery and stunning landscapes, which are perfect for stopping off and getting a great photograph.
Powys, Wales
Wales itself is a great destination for a UK road trip, with plenty of rolling green countryside which offers amazing views and quaint villages to stop at and explore. One of the best roads to drive in Wales is the Abergwesyn Pass in Powys, which offers a range of long straits, twisting turns, ascents and descents, bridges and sharp bends, making it a great choice if you’re planning to test your newfound driving skills. Along the route, you’ll be welcomed by a stunning mountainous backdrop, plenty of greenery, and picturesque villages. A stop off at the Llyne Brianne reservoir is essential for walking and photos.
