HIBERNIAN are running the rule over out-of-contract Raith Rovers keeper Ross Laidlaw.
The 24-year-old began last season playing back-up to Kevin Cuthbert at Stark’s Park but failed to make an appearance and subsequently missed a great chunk of the campaign through injury.
The 6’4” goalie, who enjoyed a loan spell with Elgin City last year, has had to play second fiddle for most of his career so far and has made just 37 appearances for Rovers in his six years at the Kirkcaldy club.
Raith recently signed Australia under-23 cap Aaron Lennox on loan from Aberdeen for a season, leaving Laidlaw to seek a new club.
He was due to join up with Hibs for their first day of pre-season training yesterday as new manager Neil Lennon took charge of his squad for the first time.
Raith manager Gary Locke said: “Ross is out of contract and is training with Hibs.
“He’s another goalkeeper I didn’t know much about but, at the same time, I’ve not got thousands of pounds to spend on goalkeepers.
“I feel as if I’ve got two who will push each other for the number one jersey and then we’re looking for a younger one to come in on a more sensible wage, and hopefully learn from the two we’ve already got.”
