GRANT Anderson has vowed to help earn Queen of the South a shot at promotion next season after penning a one-year deal with the Championship hopefuls.

The 29-year-old former Hamilton Accies player was released by Raith Rovers this summer after his agreement expired amidst a change in management at Stark’s Park.

The winger recently took part in the training sessions offered by PFA Scotland for out-of-contract players as he faced an uncertain future.

However, the Rovers fans’ favourite is thrilled to have sorted that out quickly by agreeing a switch to Palmerston Park.

He said: “I’m delighted to join. The gaffer made it very appealing and the fact that he chased me is a big compliment; that’s always a big factor when the manager wants you.

“I’ve been in the Championship for five seasons. The standard has raised over the past few years, with the likes of Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and now Dundee United.

“It’s a really good league to be part of but a hard one to get out of. The last couple of seasons, there’s been a team that’s run away with the title.”

He added on www.qosfc.com: “I don’t think that will happen this year, I think it’s going to be even more exciting and tighter and hopefully I can help get Queens into the play-offs.”

Meanwhile, former Livingston midfielder Kyle Jacobs has signed a new 12-month contract with the Doonhamers after making 30 appearances last season.
