ALLOA Athletic manager Jack Ross has expressed his delight after pulling off a massive signing coup by snapping up Jim Goodwin on a one-year deal.
The 34-year-old was released by St Mirren at the end of the season after nearly five years at the club and, after deciding to go part-time, Ross moved swiftly to hold talks with the Republic of Ireland cap.
The Wasps boss was thrilled when he was able to convince the one-time Celtic midfielder to join his new-look squad ahead of what he hopes will be a League One challenge next term.
Ross told Capital City Press: “I was only made aware last week that Jim would be looking to continue his career at a part-time level and I had a conversation with him on Friday.
“We had a good chat, about the part-time lifestyle as well as Alloa, and hopefully I sold the club to him.
“To attract a player of his pedigree and quality to the club is significant, and I’m very, very happy to get him signed.
“He is keen to keep enjoying his football and I think the fact that we are aiming to challenge for promotion next season was attractive to him.”
