Edinburgh City hoping to win fans after announcing cheapest season tickets in the SPFL

Edinburgh City will boast the cheapest season tickets in the country in their maiden SPFL campaign – with adults able to roar on the Meadowbank men for just £6.60 per match.

City chairman Jim Lumsden insists the club felt a commitment to provide “affordable football” despite their historic promotion last term and believes the modest pricing is a reward to supporters who have followed the club through thick and thin.

The capital club also hope to tap into the existing support in Edinburgh for Hearts and nearby Hibernian.

Edinburgh City MeadowbankAdult season tickets are available for as little as £120 – guaranteeing 18 home matches in League 2 – while prices for under-18s start at £60, the equivalent of £3.30 per match.

Lumsden told Capital City Press: “We were really conscious that we didn’t want to put our prices up too much.

“You want to reward the supporters that have been with us throughout the journey to the SPFL and make sure they are not paying a lot more than what they have become used to in recent seasons.

”It is about providing affordable football in the heart of Edinburgh and it’s something we are excited about. Hopefully it will entice people along who wouldn’t have considered coming to a City game before.

“We have Hibs on our doorstep, who have just won the Scottish Cup, and a resurgent Heart, but hopefully we are also an attractive option for any fans who perhaps can’t afford to get along to Tynecastle or Easter Road.

“The initial reaction has been really positive on social media and there has been a lot of interest, so that hopefully means we are doing something right.”
