ALLOA Athletic are hoping Greig Spence can help shoot them to the League One title next season after convincing the striker to sign for the club for a third time.
The 23-year-old was a man in demand this summer, with Championship part-timers Dumbarton amongst those interested in securing his services after he netted 19 times for Cowdenbeath last term.
However, the former Celtic youth player has opted to return to Alloa, where he began his career before winning a move to Parkhead as a 17-year-old.
The marksman said on Twitter: “I’m delighted to re-sign with Alloa and I’m really looking forward to next season now under Jack Ross. It’s a great club, with great people.”
Ross quickly identified Spence, who also spent season 2014-15 with the Wasps, as a signing target but has confessed he was not convinced he would be able to entice the former Raith Rovers player back to the club.
Ross commented on the club’s website: “It was an easy decision to want to bring Greig back to the club. It is a club he knows so well and he was very fond of his time here.
“But is not for sentimental reasons, it is because he is a good player and was nominated for the divisional player of the year at the end of last season.”
