Wigan striker Will Grigg has played down reports of a move to Celtic after admitting his sole focus is on performing for Northern Ireland at the upcoming European Championship.

Grigg was chosen ahead of Ross County striker Liam Boyce in Michael O’Neill’s final 23-man squad after notching 28 goals for Gary Caldwell’s Wigan in their League One title-winning campaign.

But Grigg, who joined Wigan from Brentford in a reported £1 million deal last summer, insists he will not be distracted by the speculation.

Grigg said: “At this part of the season there’s always bits and bobs flying around but I am happy at Wigan and I will just concentrate on the Euros now.

“It means everything to be part of the squad. My first game was with the under-17s and I’ve come through the ranks. It’s the icing on the cake to be in that final squad, it’s a dream come true.

“What the manager has done for the boys is brilliant, we know our strengths and we stick to them.”

Speaking to the BBC, Grigg, who scored the final goal on Friday after connecting with Aberdeen winger Niall McGinn’s cross, added: “It was a dream come true, it was a nice easy one for me and I’m really pleased.

“Niall is a great player, on a one-v-one he is one of the best I’ve seen. He’s always going to deliver a great ball and I was lucky that it fell for me.”
