Hearts youth coach Liam Fox as emerged as the front-runner for the vacant managerial position at Cowdenbeath.
Colin Nish departed Central Park after just one season following their relegation to League 2 and Fox is understood to be in pole position to replace the former Hibs and Kilmarnock striker.
He has already cultivated a promising reputation as an up-and-coming coach, guiding Hearts to their first East of Scotland Shield win in a decade, defeating Hibernian at Tynecastle.
While highly-rated in Gorgie, the club are unlikely to stand in Fox’s way if he is keen to begin his managerial career proper with the Blue Brazil.
Jason Dair, who was formerly Nish’s assistant, is currently caretaker boss and has been linked with the role on a permanent basis, as have Ian Jenkins and former Cowden favourite Danny Lennon.
