Video shows huge queue as chippy sells fish suppers for £1 for charity

A VIDEO shows the huge queue that formed after a chip shop cut the price of all its suppers to £1 for charity.

Hundreds of hungry customers snaked around the block after word got out about the deal, which knocked £5.60 off a fish supper.

Pictures show traffic coming to a standstill in Gilmerton, Edinburgh, on Tuesday night and a massive tailback of traffic forming.

The Supperbowl decided to cut prices to celebrate its refurbishment with all the money raised going to Children with Cancer and Leukaemia, Advice and Support for Parents (CCLASP), who help children and teenagers suffering from cancer, and Action for Children, a charity which provides support to youngsters in the local area.

The chip shop posted the video on their Facebook page, writing: “Special thanks to everyone who cooperated in this big event.”

Locals also took to Facebook to register their amazement at the scenes.

Gemma Maitland said: “Can’t believe the queue for the Supperbowl is round to the Mitchell’s and people are arguing for pushing.”

Fellow user Rachelann Gibson said: “Looks like everyone in Midlothian’s getting a £1 supper from the Supperbowl the night.”

Peter Robb echoed these sentiments, saying: “All suppers £1 at the Supperbowl reopening no wonder the queues way around the corner.”

Others praised the Supperbowl for their charitable efforts.

The shop donated all proceeds to charity

Nicky Ferguson posted: “Well done to Supperbowl doing their charity special, loads of people moaning about waiting so long in a queue but all proceeds going to Cancer and Leukaemia, well worth the wait I think for such a good cause.”

Geoff Ruderham said: “Well done to the Supperbowl for doing this for a great cause.”
