CARETAKER Queen of the South manager Gavin Skelton has confessed he is in the dark over his future at the club.
The former Gretna, Kilmarnock and Hamilton Accies defender was placed in temporary charge of the Doonhamers after James Fowler was sacked a fortnight ago with just two matches remaining in a disappointing campaign.
Skelton – who was Fowler’s assistant – steered the Dumfries outfit to a win over Livingston and a defeat to Hibernian as the season drew to a close with the team in a disappointing seventh place in the Championship table.
The likes of Darren Young, Gary Locke, Gary Naysmith and Ian Murray have all been linked with the post, but Skelton admits he is unsure what the future holds.
He said: “I honestly don’t know. I’ve thanked the boys for their efforts over the last two weeks.
“People always think you’re in the know but other people probably know as much as I do.
“A few of the players are signed up but quite a few of us are waiting to find out more this week.”
