Dunfermline star Andy Geggan has revealed he spurned the advances of Fleetwood Town boss Steven Pressley in favour of signing a new deal at East End Park.
The 28-year-old also attracted interest from Premiership outfit Partick Thistle according to Pars boss Allan Johnston, but has penned a one-year extension with the option of a further season.
Geggan, who has captained the club for much of this season in the absence of skipper and long-term injury victim Callum Fordyce, made 38 appearances during the Fifers’ march to the League One title, scoring six goals.
And he hopes the rest of his teammates follow suit.
He said: “I had an option down south at Fleetwood Town but the gaffer was obviously keen on me and he has done well this year.
“After some thought I have signed. I just hope that we can keep the majority of the squad for next season, I’m sure the gaffer will as well.
“I can’t wait for the Championship season and intend to get myself as fit as possible to come back after the summer.”

Johnston, who signed a contract extension himself on Tuesday afternoon, is delighted to tie up one of the club’s most influential personalities.
Johnston told dafc.co.uk: “He has been a massive player for us both on and off the park. He is a big character in the dressing room and he has played really well in the holding role.
“He has scored a few goals as well so he is an important player to get signed up. He has been one of the key players this season and I am delighted that he will be here next.”
