Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson reckons Ronny Deila will not be short of offers to return to management after Celtic announced that their manager was stepping down at the end of the season.
Just three days after the Hoops lost the Scottish Cup semi-final to Old Firm rivals Rangers on penalties, Celtic issued a statement on Wednesday confirming the Norwegian’s imminent departure.
Neilson, whose team have failed to get the better of Deila’s Celtic in six attempts, said: “It’s disappointing. When you see any manager leave it’s always disappointing because we are all in the same boat.
“I’m pretty sure Ronny will get another club pretty quickly.
“To come into a country and win two league titles, you can’t do a lot more.
“I know the European campaigns can be difficult but it’s disappointing. That’s football nowadays, it happens.
“When you’re a manager and you’re in it you understand that.
“I like him, he is a nice guy.
“To win two titles in two seasons, I’m pretty sure he’ll leave with his head held high and pick up another job somewhere and do well.”
Asked if he reckons the Hoops, who are on the verge of clinching the title ahead of Aberdeen, will be a different proposition next season, Neilson added: “It all depends on what they do in the summer.
“But we’ll prepare as well as we can and then we’ll see what happens with the other teams.
“It’s up to them to get themselves ready, and ready for us.”
