Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has been told he faces stiff competition from former St Mirren playmaker Aaron Mooy for a place in the Australia side.
Rogic enhanced his hopes of starting in today’s World Cup qualifier against Harry Redknapp’s Jordan in Sydney after climbing off the bench and netting a brace in last Thursday’s 7-0 hammering of Tajikistan.
The 23-year-old replaced Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo in the middle of the park, while fellow midfielder Mooy played the full game.
Postecoglou said: “The way we’re evolving our play, it’s not just those three (Mooy, Rogic, Luongo) competing for spots.
“It’s a great weapon to have. If I start with Aaron or Mass, I can throw Tom on for the last half an hour, and no team is going to like that.
“If I start with Tom and Mass, I can thrown Aaron on. Or all three.
“At the same time we have a structure, in the past we’ve been guilty as a national team of trying to fit all our best players into one team.
“Now their role in the team might be 90 mins or 30 or five.”
