OUTLANDER heartthrob Sam Heughan has revealed he’s proud to be a “fake ginger”.
The 35-year-old Scottish actor who plays Jamie Fraser in the hit tv show said it was “upsetting” that he’s not a “true” redhead like musician Ed Sheeran.
But said he was was happy to describe himself as a “pseudo-ginger”.
The Dumfries and Galloway born star made the comments on Wedneday during an interview with a fan for entertainment website, The Spin Off.
Heughan was asked how he felt about being a famous ginger among Ed Sheeran and Harry Potter character, Ron Weasley.
The 35-year-old responded: “The problem is that I’m a fake ginger.
“It’s kind of upsetting because they really are ginger, and they’re pasty and white as well.
“Whereas I’ve got that Jamie Fraser, slightly dirty, swarthy skin.
“I’m very proud to be a pseudo-ginger.”
The star has previously spoke out in his support for people with red hair saying to website The Wrap last year that there should be a “Ginger Award”.
During his interview for The Spin Off, the Scot was also asked whether he believes in the Loch Ness Monster.
“God, I’m going to be shot down here,” he said, “I think she is.
“I went to Kelowna in Canada and they have their own Ogopogo, which is some sort of sea monster.
“I didn’t even know about it, but I was sitting by the side of this beautiful lake, and I saw something go right across the lake.
“I still don’t, to this day, know what it was but it was definitely very large.”
Heughan is currently on a press tour promoting the second season of Outlander due to premiere on April 9, 2016.
