Scott Robinson joins Dunfermline on trial after Kilmarnock departure

SCOTT Robinson has gone on trial at Dunfermline as he seeks a new club after departing Kilmarnock.

The former Hearts midfielder has left the Premiership strugglers less than a season into the three-year deal he penned last summer.

The sacking of Gary Locke, who Robinson worked with at Hearts, and the arrival of Lee Clark as manager at Rugby Park, led to the 24-year-old’s premature departure after it was made clear he had no future at the Ayrshire club.

Robinson featured as a trialist for the Pars’ under-20s side against their Hamilton Accies counterparts on Tuesday night and netted a penalty in the 3-2 victory.

He is still training with the Fifers as they close in on promotion back to the Championship and manager Allan Johnston has refused to rule out making the play-maker a contract offer in future.

Johnston said: “To be fair, Scott did well in the under-20s game, so that was good.

“He’s just in training just now and we’ll see what happens.

“He’s been released by Kilmarnock and I’ve spoken to Lockey about him and he rates him really highly.

“He’s been coming in to keep fit and we’ll see how it progresses from there.

“We’re having a look, there’s no harm in us having a look.”

Meanwhile, Dunfermline have snapped up freed Hibernian youngster Conner Duthie.

The 19-year-old spent the last two and a half years with Hibs after previously being on the books at Hearts and impressed during a recent trial with the Pars.

Johnston added: “We’ve managed to bring in young Conner as well, who looks a real talent. He’s played really well for the under-20s in the last couple of games.

“It’s great the club is managing to bring in some of these young players who have a chance of stepping up to the first-team.”
