Scotland midfielder Barry Bannan has been handed a three-match ban at Sheffield Wednesday.
The 26-year-old will miss the Owls’ Championship clashes against Charlton, Huddersfield and Blackburn Rovers after his appeal against his sending off in the weekend’s win at Nottingham Forest was rejected.
Although the former Aston Villa playmaker is suspended for his club, Bannan is set to feature in Scotland’s March 24 trip to the Czech Republic after being named in Gordon Strachan’s squad for the friendly.
Confirming the failed appeal, a FA statement read: “A claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Barry Bannan has been rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.”
