Deadline has a proud record of recruiting some of the brightest and best young journalists starting out in the business and offering them a rapid route to the top.
In the past five years alone, four former Deadline News reporters have moved on to The Sun, three to the Daily Mail, three to STV, and one each to the Scottish Daily Record, Scotsman, BBC, Edinburgh Evening News and The Courier in Dundee.
Based in beautiful Edinburgh, we ferret out stories, pictures and videos that regularly feature in the Scottish, UK and international media.
once more, we have an opportunity for a young reporter who’s bold, determined, imaginative, flexible, energetic – and willing to learn.
Distinctions, gold standards and first class degrees are fine things but we’re really interested in people who possess the qualities listed above. It doesn’t necessarily matter if this is your first proper job but you’ll need to be able to show evidence of a genuine interest in news.
Probably the most important formal qualification you’ll need is a full driving licence. We don’t believe in sitting in front of a computer screen for days on end.
After that, shorthand is essential but arrangements can be made to learn (or speed up) on the job. We can also offer the chance to learn or develop multimedia skills, particularly through our in-house photography/video team.
Please send an email including a brief CV and covering letter to peter@deadlinenews.co.uk
