Scotland forward Shaun Maloney has been ruled out of this month’s double header against the Czech Republic and Denmark after being sidelined for three weeks with an ankle problem.
The Hull City playmaker, who has only made one appearance for the Tigers in 2016 due to injury and falling down the pecking order, sustained the problem in training on Monday and is not expected to return to Steve Bruce’s side until April.
Scotland manager Gordon Strachan will name his two different squads for the March 24 and 29 friendly matches today but the 33-year-old former Celtic winger will not be included.
A Hull statement read: “Shaun Maloney damaged his ankle and although the injury isn’t too serious, the Scottish international is expected to be out of action for around three weeks.”
