Former Celtic defender Adam Matthews has joined Bristol City from Sunderland on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 24-year-old has only made two appearances for the Black Cats – both coming last August – after making a £2 million switch from Parkhead last summer.
The Wales international, who could be handed his debut in tonight’s Championship clash at Wolves, won four successive Scottish top-flight titles during his time north of the border.
Bristol manager Lee Johnson, speaking to bcfc.co.uk, said: “He’s a quality, young signing who is hungry to play.
“He moved to Sunderland for £2 million and hasn’t got in the team enough, so he’s keen to come here and prove himself.
“He’s quick with good technique. The risk and reward with any loan is how quickly you can get the player up to speed and get them integrated to the group.”
