Comedian sends kids to school dressing up day as Argos catalogue

A SCOTS comedian celebrated World Book Day by sending his children to school dressed up – as pages out of the Argos catalogue.

Funnyman Joe Heenan, from Perth, was forced to be creative when he remembered last-minute that his children had to go to school in fancy dress.

The day is designed to celebrate children’s novels, and most pupils turn up as characters out of Harry Potter, the Horrid Henry series and Roald Dahl classics.

So Joe’s children looked less than impressed at being handed everyday items and told they represented the Argos catalogue.

The comedian took to social media to share the hilarious snap of his two children wearing their school uniform.

The funnyman says his children are used to his jokes

His daughter can be seen holding a toaster and scowling, while his son looks disappointed at being handed a hairdryer.

Joe wrote: “Forgot they had to be in costume, so they’re going to school as pages 89 & 165 out of the Argos catalogue.”

The amusing post was retweeted over 1,500 times in just three hours, by followers who said the idea was “genius” and joked that he had “nailed this parenting lark”.

Helen Thomas wrote: “Best thing I’ve seen all day. Genius.”

Jean Donaldson said: “I think you’ve definitely nailed this parenting lark. I bow to your superior skills and inspiration.”

Another follower joked: “Your kids hate you don’t they.”

It is not the first time Joe has shared amusing snaps of his children looking grumpy.

Last year he showed off his craft skills by making his daughter a schoolbag out of a 12-pack of beer.

A picture showed his disgruntled child holding a 12-pack Miller Genuine Draft box with some string attached to it.

His masterpiece quickly went viral, and Joe went on to joke that his children were “used to him joking around” and played along with it.
