Falkirk head coach Peter Houston warns Hibs: “You’re in our sights”

Falkirk manager Peter Houston insists his side have Hibs firmly in their sights after moving to within two points of the Leith outfit on Saturday.

The Bairns’ 3-1 win over Queen of the South married to Hibs’ defeat at Dumbarton has given Houston’s charges renewed hope that they can clinch the runners-up place and avoid an additional play-off clash.

Falkirk fought back from going behind to Chris Higgins’ first half header with a John Baird effort, Andy Dowie own goal and drive from Blair Alston.

Houston said: “I’ve always looked below me to see what the gap is because we want to make sure we’re in the play-offs.

“But I’ve never given up hope of us catching Hibs.

“Now we’re only two points behind them and we’ve still to play them, and on our day we can be a match for them.

“Is it a big difference between finishing second and third in the play-offs? Yeah, it’s two games less after a long hard season.”

The Falkirk stadium was evacuated shortly after full-time on Saturday following the discovery of an unattended package, which turned out to be a box of chocolates.

Both sets of teams, staff and hospitality guests were allowed to return to the stadium after around 30 minutes waiting outside the ground.

A Falkirk spokesperson said: “An unattended package was discovered during the post-match security sweep following Falkirk FC’s home match against Queen of the South.

“A police expert attended the Falkirk Stadium and the package was declared safe.”
