Dunfermline have been handed a huge boost after defender Ryan Williamson played for the first time since suffering a double leg break six months ago.
The 19-year-old has endured a slow road to recovery since suffering the horrific injury in the 3-0 win over Forfar Athletic in the Petrofac Training Cup on August 18.
The Scotland under-19s full-back played the final 30 minutes of the under-20s’ 3-2 defeat to their Falkirk counterparts yesterday as he stepped up his bid for a top-team return.
However, with the youngster having been sidelined for so long, Fifers manager Allan Johnston has struck a note of caution.
He said: “Ryan is flying. He’s doing really well in training and you can see he’s getting more and more confident as the weeks are going on.
“His fitness and sharpness are improving.
“He’s still a long, long way away from getting into the first-team but he’s progressing and doing really well.”
