Ross Wallace has backed former Celtic team-mate Aiden McGeady to become a huge hit with the Sheffield Wednesday fans.
Republic of Ireland internationalist McGeady made the loan move from Everton on Monday on a deal until the end of the season in the hope of pinning down much needed game time ahead of this summer’s Euro Championship finals in France.
Wallace came through the ranks with fellow playmaker McGeady, who made his Owls debut as a late substitute in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, at the Hoops and reckons the 29-year-old is sure to impress at Hillsborough.
Wallace said: “I know Aiden really well. We have got a real player on our hands. He’s an excellent addition and he’ll excite the fans.
“I’m delighted he’s come here. Aiden will definitely get some goals and assists.
“I’m sure the fans will take to him right away. As soon as he is one v one with a defender on the edge of the box, that’s where he’s at his best and he can cause massive problems.
“He has kept himself in good shape. He’s a proper footballer who loves the game and trains hard.”
