Airdrieonians head coach Eddie Wolecki Black is adamant the Diamonds have a sparkling future after they announced their impeding return to full-time status.
The League One outfit have been part-time since 2010, however chairman Tom Wotherspoon last night confirmed that will change at the start of next season.
As well as going full-time, Airdrie have agreed a three-year deal with North Lanarkshire Leisure to train at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre.
The good news off the pitch was mirrored by a sensational victory on it, as Black’s side claimed a 1-0 win at East End Park, condemning the Pars to their first league defeat since September 12.
On a momentous night for the club, the boss beamed: “There is a lot going on behind the scenes at this football club. We are trying to put the building blocks in place to progress and progress properly.
“Hopefully there are plenty of other things we are going to put in place which will ensure this club grows in the coming weeks, months and years ahead.
“You look at where we were last night, Dunfermline, and that is the type of club that inspires people. We want to have that ambition and inspiration to reach that level.
“As a footballer, if you have anything about you, you want to be in a full time environment.”
