Cowdenbeath player/manager Colin Nish has snapped up former Hibs youngster Ross Caldwell on a deal until the end of the season.
The striker moves to Central Park after his six-month contract at League One rivals Ayr United expired.
Caldwell, who began his career at Easter Road and has also played for Alloa, St Mirren and Morton, scored five goals in 22 appearances for the Honest Men.
Nish, who recruited winger Declan McDaid on loan from Partick Thistle at the start of the week, said: “We’ve got Ross signed on a deal until the end of the season.
“He was coming through when I was at Hibs, he broke into the first team after I left and he scored a goal against Hearts at Tynecastle.
“He’s a lad that I know quite well and I think he just needs the opportunity to go and play.
“Hopefully at Cowdenbeath we’ll manage to give him that and he’ll prove us right for taking him.”
