Scotland Under-21 internationalist Donald Love has been recalled by Manchester United following a loan stint with Wigan.
The versatile defender made eight appearances for the League One side during his three-month spell but Latics manager Gary Caldwell, who wanted to extend his stay, admits United counterpart Louis Van Gaal is keen to have a closer look at Love.
The 21-year-old, who was born in Rochdale and is a product of the English giant’s youth academy, has also been capped by Scotland at Under-17 and 19 level.
Former Scotland and Celtic defender Caldwell said: “Donald has gone back to Manchester United.
“I don’t think it’s something we’ll be revisiting, because United wanted him back to have a look at him.
“It’s in their hands now.”
