Scotland internationalist Allan McGregor is ready to end his career at Hull City after signing a bumper new deal.
The 33-year-old has penned a contract which will keep him at the KC Stadium until the summer of 2018, with the option of a further season, after impressing since his arrival from Besiktas in 2013.
And, while he does not envision hanging up his gloves any time soon, he sees no reason why Hull should not be the final destination of a decorated career.
The former Rangers stopper, who boasts 34 Scotland caps, said: “I’m just going to go as long as I can. Hopefully this could be here where I end my career if I keep doing well.
“I don’t see why it can’t be here. That’s a wee while away yet, though – I’m coming up to 34, not 44!
“If I didn’t enjoy it here then I wouldn’t have signed a new contract. I really like the place.”
McGregor is determined to see out his new contract in the English Premier League, with Steve Bruce’s men firmly in the automatic promotion hunt in the Championship.
He told the Hull Daily Mail: “It was disappointing to be relegated but I still feel the club wants to be back in the Premier League and I still feel we have a chance of doing that this season.
“Our aim has to be getting up and staying in the Premier League now. It’s as simple as that.”
