Livingston have snapped up former Rangers youngster Craig Halkett ahead of their trip to Ibrox this weekend.
The 20-year-old emerged through the Gers youth system but failed to make a single first team appearance for the Championship leaders before negotiating a release from his contract this week.
He spent a month on loan with Berwick Rangers earlier this season, making four appearances for the League Two strugglers, and enjoyed a three-month stint at Clyde last term.
Halkett also boasts international experience for Scotland at under-19 level and was desperate to secure first-team football at club level.
The versatile defender has penned a deal until the end of the season and, with Darren Cole and Craig Sives absent, could be in line to make his Lions debut against his former club on Saturday.
The youngster is David Hopkin’s fourth signing of the transfer window as the new boss wastes no time in rebuilding the Livi squad, joining Mark Fotheringham, Sam Stanton and Marc McCallum at the club.
