Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston insists Ryan Williamson’s model attitude can help speed his recovery from a double leg break.
The 19-year-old has been sidelined since August after sustaining the horrific injury in a Petrofac Training Cup tie against Forfar Athletic.
However, the Scotland under-19 full-back has begun light training in recent days in a bid to make his first-team return.
And Johnston is optimistic the teenager can withstand his short-term pain as he targets long-term gains.
The Pars boss said: “Ryan Williamson comes in with a smile on his face every day but his legs are killing him from doing a bit of running.
“It is amazing stepping it up from light jogging and it will take a bit of time.
“But he has a fantastic attitude and if anyone is going to come back quickly it is going to be him.”
