Scotland’s Robert Snodgrass scores first goal on comeback from knee injury

Robert Snodgrass scored his first goal in 19 months yesterday as he chalked off another milestone in his comeback from a serious knee injury.

The Scotland attacker netted for Hull City’s under-21s in their 2-2 draw with Birmingham City to continue his encouraging recovery from the dislocated kneecap he suffered in August last year.

The 28-year-old also completed another full 90 minutes, his second in the space of a week for the Tigers’ second-string.

The former Leeds United and Livingston player, who last scored a competitive goal playing for Norwich City in April 2014, has had to endure a lengthy rehabilitation after sustaining his horrific injury on his league debut with Hull 15 months ago.

However, the 15-times capped internationalist, who scored his side’s second in the first-half yesterday, will be hopeful of pushing for a first-team return in the coming weeks if his comeback remains on track.

Snodgrass said afterwards on Twitter: “Delighted to get a goal and another 90 minutes of match fitness against Birmingham.”
