Dunfermline have confirmed that goalkeeper Sean Murdoch has set a new club record after keeping the ball out of his net for 612 minutes of league action.

The shot-stopper has not conceded a goal in League One since being beaten by Aidrie’s George Hunter in the 18th minutes of their 1-1 draw on September 26.

Since then Allan Johnston’s side have kept clean sheets against Albion Rovers, Stranrear, Forfar, Cowdenbeath, Peterhead and Airdrie, although they were beaten 4-0 by St Mirren in the Petrofac Training Cup last month.

Dunfermline, who have only let in eight goals in 14 league clashes this season, have beaten the previous record of 601 minutes that was set during the 1985/86 campaign.

Club historian Duncan Simpson said: “It is not a club record since there is clearly a small matter of a 4-0 Challenge Cup defeat at St Mirren to take into account if you are describing a club record.

“It is, however, a club record in league matches, surpassing the record set in 1985/86 of 601 minutes.”
