Kilmarnock manager Gary Locke insists his team will be buoyed by their last result against Celtic when they take on Ronny Deila’s side on Saturday.

The Ayrshire side battled to a 2-2 draw with the Hoops back on August 12 after Josh Magennis and Kallum Higginbotham goals cancelled out efforts from Leigh Griffiths and Nir Bitton.

After recent back-to-back successes against Inverness and Dundee, Kilmarnock are looking to return to winning ways in Glasgow following narrow losses to Motherwell and St Johnstone.

However, Locke, whose team are only three points adrift of the top six, insists they will head to Parkhead with the belief that they can take more points off Celtic.

He said: “We showed earlier in the season that if we can play to our capabilities, we can cause them problems.

“I thought we did well against them at Rugby Park and we’ll go there in good spirits.

“It’s a great game to look forward to. I always felt these types of games were easy to play in because all the expectation is on Celtic, everyone will expect them to beat us.

“We’re really disappointed with the last two results although the performances have certainly picked up and if we can play to our capabilities we can get a result.

“In terms of the chances we creating we’re not a million miles away, we just need a wee break in front of goal.”
