Raith Rovers are hopeful of having both their first-choice full-backs restored to fitness in time for their next outing against Dumbarton.

The Kirkcaldy club had to make do without skipper and right-back Jason Thomson at the weekend for the home clash with Falkirk because a back injury.

The Stark’s Park men were dealt a further blow in the 70th minute of the 2-1 defeat to the Bairns when left-back Rory McKeown limped off with a hamstring problem.

However, manager Ray McKinnon is optimistic the pair will be passed fit when the Fifers face Dumbarton a week on Saturday.

He said: “Rory seems to have hurt his hamstring. He was feeling it tight and we decided to take him off.

“But hopefully both him and Jason are back for the next game.”

Rovers should have been back in action at home to St Mirren on Saturday but the Buddies have successfully had the game postponed because of international commitments.

Having a free weekend will aid Raith’s attempts to have Thomson and McKeown available for the trip to Dumbarton on November 21.

However, after three successive defeats, McKinnon insists he would rather his side had the opportunity to make amends as soon as possible.

He added: “The break is definitely coming at the wrong time for us.

“We wanted to get back into the action on Saturday at home against St Mirren and put in another performance like Saturday’s.

“So, for us, we don’t want the break.”
