St Mirren defender Jack Baird has been cleared to face Hibs tomorrow after winning his red card appeal – but manager Ian Murray will be without Craig Reid after his dismissal was upheld.
Both players were sent off by referee Greg Aitken during Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Falkirk for denying obvious goal scoring opportunities.
The club launched appeals but a Scottish FA hearing has decided that only Baird should have his punishment downgraded to a yellow card.
The 19-year-old was adjudged to have this used his arm in stopping Bob McHugh having a clear run on goal.
Reid, who was making his debut after signing on loan from Motherwell, was ordered off for bringing down Kevin O’Hara in a last man challenge but his red card stands and the defender will sit out Saturday’s trip to on form Hibs.
A Buddies spokesperson said: “It has been confirmed that Jack Baird’s red card has been downgraded to a yellow card on appeal but Craig Reid’s red card will stand as issued on Saturday.”
