David Hopkin has lauded Jordan White’s patience and persistence after the towering striker fired Livingston out of the relegation zone with their first home win of the season.
Prior to yesterday’s encounter, Mark Burchill’s side had the inglorious distinction of being the only team in British senior league football without a single league point at their own stadium.
However, a professional, clinical display against Raith Rovers made a mockery of that startling statistic, with White emerging as the Fifers’ tormentor-in-chief.
He out-jumped Raith keeper Kevin Cuthbert to head home the opening goal of the game before doubling his money after the break with a classy low finish from just inside the box.
“Jordan has has to be patient, despite scoring 16 goals last year,” said Livi assistant managed David Hopkin. “Because Liam Buchanan and Jordyn Sheerin have both done well.
“Credit to Jordan, he has been patient and forced himself back into the team. We have three strikers now, all who are doing really well and we have real options.
“His attitude has been absolutely first class.”
White’s deadly double sandwiched a superb header by the dominant Declan Gallagher, albeit the lack of Rovers marking from the Gary Glen corner kick was downright alarming.
In one fell swoop, Livingston leaped from the bottom two in the Championship for the first-time this season, ascending to seventh spot.
“The gaffer has brought in a lot of young players and I think we are building something here,” added former Scotland cap Hopkin.
“We have the momentum now and hopefully we can continue this run. That’s two wins on the bounce and we are starting to take our chances now. We are going in the right direction.”
