Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs has sounded a battle cry ahead of tomorrow’s Championship showdown, insisting: “I know we are good enough to beat Rangers.”
The Glasgow giants have racked up a 100 per cent league record under Mark Warburton and currently lead the Hibees by eight points in the race to the Premiership.
The rivals have already met twice this term, with the Gers battering Hibs 6-2 in the Petrofac Training Cup in July before claiming a narrow 1-0 triumph at Ibrox the following month.
However, Stubbs is adamant that will count for nothing when they cross swords at Easter Road this weekend – and has backed his players to prove they are every bit as good as Rangers.
He said: “We want to get three points and, I’m not going to lie, I think we can get a result – in fact, I know we can!
“The players know they need to perform to their maximum, but the one thing I need to do as a coach, is believe in the players.
“I’m not going to look like a clown and say Rangers are not any better than last season. They’ve changed in lots of ways; they’ve brought in better players and have a new management team who have hit the ground running. They’ve done very well.
“But we’re focusing on trying to win the game – I never contemplate losing.”
