Celtic supporter Barry Bannan has backed Gary Hooper to make an impact at Sheffield Wednesday after admiring his goal-scoring exploits in a Hoops jersey.
Hooper has become a team-mate of Scotland midfielder Bannan’s at the Owls after moving to Hillsborough from Norwich City on a loan deal until January.
In three years at Parkhead, Hooper scored 81 goals and won two league titles.
And Bannan reckons Wednesday’s Championship promotion push will be bolstered by the arrival of the 27-year-old.
Bannan said: “Gary has proved his worth. I have seen him at Celtic and at Norwich so we look forward to him joining the team and adding to what we have already got here.”
Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “I’m very happy we have signed Gary. We have followed him a long time. He was my first option for the position.
“We tried to bring him in August but it was not possible at that moment.
“There were a few players linked with us in the newspapers but our focus was all the time on Gary because I think he can help improve the team.
“He has quality and characteristics that can increase the value in our team.”
