Former Celtic favourite Stiliyan Petrov has slammed Kris Commons’ furious reaction to being substituted against Molde and has urged the Hoops star to apologise.
Commons, who scored Celtic’s only goal in their miserable 3-1 defeat last night, exploded with anger on the touchline after being replaced by Nadir Ciftci.
The decision by under-fire boss Ronny Deila shocked many, including a vocal band of Celtic fans within the stadium, and Commons appeared to launch an angry volley of abuse at Celts No.2 John Collins.
And Petrov, providing analysis for BT Sport, believes his actions were unforgivable.
The Bulgarian said: “I’m sorry Kris, but that’s really poor. I think he should apologise to everyone involved with Celtic.
“It doesn’t matter how frustrated you are. The team had a poor night and, although he scored a good goal, his performance was nothing special.
“He should have put his head down and waited for the next game. There are a lot of Celtic fans there, this club have a great history, and he let himself down.
“How does the player who comes on (Ciftci) feel? He will come back into the dressing room and see what happened. How would the other players on the bench feel? Should they shout and kick the bench? No. I think it was really bad.”
